As part of the Project in Development and the Environment, a team of expatriate and Egyptian specialists participated in numerous missions to help the Government of Egypt and USAID implement the country's Environmental Action Plan. Under one task, PRIDE provided assistance to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency to develop an awareness program for the government's new environmental law. Other tasks involved the preparation of a comparative health risk assessment of Cairo's environment and a monitoring system to calculate the environmental benefits of USAID energy and environmental projects. In addition, PRIDE supported a newly formed Middle East environmental NGO consortium.
