Possessing the greatest biodiversity on the planet, the Amazon, Pantanal and Atlantic Forest regions of Brazil are among the most threatened regions of biodiversity remaining in the world. Sustainable tourism development is a key factor in protecting these regions. Counterpart is working with Brazil's leading public and private tourism and biodiversity conservation organizations to develop national sustainable tourism standards and certification systems for Brazil. Partners include: Odebrecht Group, the largest private corporation in Brazil ($9 billion in revenues), Hospitality Institute, Brazil's National Sustainable Tourism Standards and Certification NGO, Global Environment Facility (GEF) EarthVoice and Pro-Natura, one of Brazil's leading biodiversity conservation NGOs.
