Chemonics provided a comprehensive assessment on biodiversity, tropical forests, and water resources in El Salvador. A final report outlined the country's available natural resources, analyzed their degredation and its causes, and suggested what intervention should and can be taken to most effectively preserve them. Other issues the team explored included the policy, regulatory, and institutional framework for environmental issues; involvement of non-governmental organizations; conservation activities and committments from other donors and civil society; and the status and protection of endangered species.
