Water Quality Impact Assessment, Management Action Plan, and Workshop

Location  Egypt

Performance period  February 1992 - September 1993

Partner  Chemonics International

Budget  $297,783

Donor/Client  USAID

Contract  ANE-0178-Q-00-1047-00, TO 2

This delivery order, under the Project in Development and the Environment, was carried out in three phases. Chemonics advisors assessed water quality and pollution in Egypt. They developed environmental and health impact factsheets on nutrient, trace metal, salinity, pathogen, oil and grease, and pesticide hazards and oxygen-demanding substances in Egyptian waters. The team then developed an action plan for environmentally-sound water use and development in Egypt, and conducted a water quality monitoring workshop. This project led USAID and the GOE to reorient their programs to better address critical water quality issues.
