Counterpart International, a large NGO with over $100m in annual programs, has excellent capacity in integrated water resource and coastal zone management projects. They currently work with communities and local institutions in 33 countries. Counterpart implements watershed management plans through community-based marine protected areas to restore coral reefs and enhance reef-based fisheries. Counterpart also assists in conflict resolution for water and coastal resources issues, at the local, national and transboundary scale. The workshops have resulted in documented decreases in community tension (based on the indicators of communication, interaction, collaboration, and alienation). Counterpart is a participant in the administration's latest volunteer initiative, Volunteers for Prosperity.
