Consortium Past Performance

View all past performance

Water conservation and water demand management are crucial to maintaining an adequate supply of water for people worldwide. Unsound cultivation practices, mismanagement of natural resources, and natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, and more recently the Tsunami in Southeast Asia threaten water supply, agriculture, food security, biodiversity, and ecosystem health. An integrated approach to the management of soil and water resources involves aspects of: 1) physical and agronomic soil conservation; 2) water harvesting through terracing and surface dams; 3) irrigation management; 4) recycling wastewater using natural treatment systems; and 5) improved management of organic matter.
